Today I did some more composing - I composed the second portion of the wedding scene where things are still somewhat tranquil, but Eris is scheming. The wedding party guests are represented by a string ensemble, and Eris is represented by a piccolo. The piccolo has a naturally mischievous quality to it - it’s used to represent nymphs and water faeries in Rusalka, so I thought it would be perfect for Eris. I felt that the full sound that a string ensemble has would reflect a large amount of party guests well.
