Set Design
Explanation
In any opera or general work for stage, a large part of the overall performance is the set design. Before you even get to making the actual sets, you need to research the era and style of your costume, create an appropriate moodboard, and make 2D and 3D designs, and a model. I chose to create sets for the Act II scene where the three goddesses, Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera each tell Paris why they deserve to get the golden apple. I wanted to create an idyllic forest scene that would make the goddesses and their ethereal outfits stand out. I had originally intended the background to be blue, but then I decided that it would be nice to use projections. Scroll down to see my moldboards and designs!
